Most of my work comes to me electronically. My email serves as my to do list. Items remain in my inbox until I have addressed the message and responded accordingly. This keeps me organized and accountable. I need this structure to properly manage my time.
I will generally handle messages in the order in which they were received. At times, that order has to be shifted so higher priority items can be handled. Many messages do not require effort on my part but serve as informational messages that can quickly be stored in its proper location and away from my working list of messages.
This is my routine to stay organized and focused in my work. Cleaning out my inbox gives me satisfaction in my productivity. The accomplishment of an empty inbox normally doesn’t last long. More messages are sure to come.
Phone calls and meetings are thrown in the mix to keep me on my toes. Refocusing on the next task, making sure the previous one is finished, may prove challenging without organization and time management. Assessing the overall workload continually helps me know what to do next.
God orders our lives. He knows what comes next. He has already seen it and will carry us through whatever may come.
He receives our prayers and handles them accordingly. His timing is always perfect and knows all the who, what, when and where of every request. He is patient and compassionate in responding to each message He receives. He loves receiving messages of praise directed at Him.
He may shift priorities occasionally. He may remove certain assignments. He will definitely show up and bring satisfaction in the accomplishments He provides.
My prayer life is an ongoing process I want to improve. Perhaps you have a tried and proven system to keep track of your requests. Or maybe you need to get organized with your prayer life. I have been searching for a method to record and revisit prayer requests that come my way.
Just like my email, I need to keep some requests up front and ongoing. God doesn’t get tired of hearing our prayers. And when someone asks you to pray, do you always remember each request? Even if you pray right there and then, you may want to pray again and keep track of the request. Do you already have a system in place to keep your requests organized? Will you share with me?
Next time you check your inbox, make sure the outbox of your prayers is consistently updated. I am thankful God doesn’t need the kind of organization that I do. He always knows our requests before we even speak them.
JUST FOR YOU:
I have created a prayer card you can download and print. This can be printed on letter sized paper or on postcards/index cards stock. Separate into four prayers cards. Print several and keep in a convenient location to remember to pray for others. Make sure to follow-up on the requests so you can continue praying. Record how God answers the prayer and be sure to give Him praise.
