    Embraced by Her Papa

A small child touched her daddy’s face with eyes fixed on him repeatedly saying, “Papa, papa, papa!” War had taken her away from him and she was in his arms again. “Papa, papa, papa!” Peace washed over that little face knowing the protection of her Papa. In his arms she feels secure. In his embrace she knows she is loved. Wrapped in the love of her father, she can’t help but exclaim, “Papa!” We all need that! The Father is always ready to welcome His child into His Presence. Just a prayer away. Just a praise away. Run to Him…

    Laundry Room

Yesterday was busy. My clothes dryer stopped drying my clothes. With the humidity at 100%, even hung all over the house with the air conditioning on, clothes will not dry quickly. Doorways became clotheslines. I work from home each Wednesday in an effort to focus on the tasks at hand. Wednesdays are always busy. I add laundry in the mix to force myself to get up and move away from the computer. I didn’t expect the dryer going out! May I ask you a question about your laundry space? If you have a washer and a dryer, do you periodically…

    God’s Riches

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 It’s right there. Paul said “all.” Not some. No ifs, ands or buts. God will supply all your needs. Not because you or I deserve it. Oh no! According to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. God gives what is undeserved from His goodness. Grace. God withholds what is deserved. Mercy. Even in prison, Paul’s needs were met. He experienced the supply of God. Have you experienced the supply of God? If your first reaction is no, think again. Really…

    Sharing

Paul’s missionary journey took him to many places. He faced opposition, persecution, violence. Throughout, he maintained his contentment and proclaimed the sufficiency of God’s provision for his life. He was thankful. Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my affliction.  You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone; for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs.  Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for…

    God Will Help

God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. Psalm 46:5 God is the ever-present help. On this new day, before the sun is up, He is already helping. He didn’t stop last night. He is faithful. He knows what we need when we don’t. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, Hebrews 6:19 He keeps us in the midst of turmoil around us, He holds us in His steady grasp. He never forsakes…

    Enough

What is enough? Is there a mathematical equation to quantify the perfect amount of enough? Just lost all my non-math people! In my world of all things accounting, enough could be enough cash on hand to pay the bills. But then again it could be defined by the owner of the company determining if return on their investment is enough. It is subjective and based on each respective perception of enough. “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete…

    Remember

This is to remember.  Because honestly, I forget.  I can easily fall back into thinking junk and get myself into a mess.  If I write it out, I can return to these pages and remember.  Remember to take every thought captive. Remember to think on things that are true and honorable and right and pure and lovely and of good repute and excellent and worthy of praise. Remember to practice. That friend who says she has to learn the lesson before she can teach it, I get it. Experience is a good teacher. Thanking God for many scars and for…

    Practice

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9 What do you practice? Music? Art? Sports? Profession? Shopping? Cooking Eating? Scouring Social Media? Precepts of God? Evidence of practices consume us daily. Always running to the next practice, whatever that practice looks like. Do we all have some inner voice that pushes us to find our best selves in something? Is your practice bringing you peace? Paul reminded the Philippians to practice those things they had ‘learned or received or heard…

    Take Every Thought Captive

My open page fell on Philippians again this morning. In chapter 4, verse 9, Paul speaks of learning and receiving and hearing things. Those things I shared yesterday, specifically in verse 8: whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellence, worthy of praise; those things caused me to think on another verse. So I flipped some pages. 2 Corinthians 10 shares about our thoughts in verse 5. Our thoughts can get us in trouble. Can you relate? In the verses just before, there is the reminder that ‘we do not war according to the flesh.’ God wants…
