Teaching, Fellowship, Breaking Bread, Prayer

“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭42‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Before my memories were holding fast in my brain, my parents, as a young couple beginning a life-long journey of following Christ, hosted Bible studies in their home. My dad had been ordained as a pastor. I don’t remember that time but I do remember the residual effects of the fellowship.

It has been ingrained in my introverted self for decades. A great desire to gather with others to study God’s Word, sharing that fellowship of knowing Christ and learning and partaking in His provisions and talking with Him, instilled in my mind and heart.

It has been buried for a while now. Sitting below the surface of my to do list. Sitting below the pride and hurt I carry around. Sitting below all the excuses I place above it. The list is long.

Have you ever showed up with good intentions and while there, you weren’t really there? Maybe you listened and took everything in and didn’t really count yourself as present in the moment. Maybe you wanted to hide and not be seen because that is your default for everything. Quietly sitting and listening and not participating and leaving more empty than when you came.

Share with me? Tell me about your fellowship with other believers.
